The goal of this project was to develop an algorithm that could accurately auto-assign ICD-9-CM codes to clinical free text. The project itself is the final deliverable for the Applied Natural Language Processing course taught by Barbara Rosario at the School of Information, UC Berkeley. The idea for the project, as well as the corpus, comes from the Computational Medicine Center’s 2007 Medical Natural Language Processing Challenge.
